Following the program, AFI Festivals Programmer Eric Moore leads a conversation between filmmakers Yi Tang (BLACK GOAT), Em Weinstein (IN FRANCE MICHELLE IS A MAN’S NAME), Seungee Kim (TIGER & OX), Erica Tremblay (LITTLE CHIEF), Inès Girihiwe (BREAKING GROUND), Johnson Cheng (LONELY BLUE NIGHT), Kimi Howl Lee (CHILD OF LAND).

The consequences of a mother’s decision to leave her daughter in the care of an American homestay family are unearthed when they reunite for dinner one lonely blue night.

Bio

Johnson Cheng is an award-winning Chinese American writer-director. Named an HBO APA Visionary, Johnson’s films have screened at over 100 international film festivals such as Tribeca, TIFF Kids and AFI FEST. He is an alumnus of Columbia University’s MFA Film Directing/Screenwriting program and Film Independent’s Project Involve.
