WILDCAT Documentary

WILDCAT

Screening to be followed by a conversation with co-directors Melissa Lesh and Trevor Beck Frost and participant Samantha Zwicker.

Former British soldier Harry Turner, who is suffering from depression and PTSD after a tour in Afghanistan, volunteers to help American scientist Samantha Zwicker with her wildlife rescue shelter in the Peruvian Amazon. Turner and Zwicker develop a bond as they rehabilitate animals threatened by poachers and develop the first ever reintroduction program for baby Ocelots. Turner’s mental stability further deteriorates as he raises the Ocelot cubs and becomes increasingly emotionally dependent and volatile, threatening his partnership with Zwicker. With incredibly intimate access, filmmakers Melissa Lesh and Trevor Frost in their directorial debut craft a stunning and heartwarming portrait that captures the struggle of mental health and its long-term effects on the ones we love. –Paul Guinnessy
