THE FABELMANS Red Carpet Premieres

US Premiere

A film that has been 75 years in the making, Steven Spielberg’s THE FABELMANS is a soul-bearing and spellbinding movie memoir for the ages. Set in the late 1950s and early ‘60s, this semi-autobiographical coming-of-age epic is told through the lens of Sammy Fabelman, who falls in love with moviemaking and grapples with the family turmoil that would ultimately shape an iconic career. Caught between his eccentric artist mother (Michelle Williams, in a heart-wrenching performance) and his pragmatic computer engineer father (Paul Dano), Sammy must carve out his own identity as the family traverse the country and he navigates the minefields of home and school life. Spielberg lays bare his family rift with startling honesty, compassion and emotional complexity in this heartfelt film, which also serves as a love letter to cinema. Featuring supporting turns from Seth Rogen and Judd Hirsch, as well as a surprise cameo by a modern-day auteur as the legendary John Ford.

Steven Spielberg is one of the industry’s most successful and influential filmmakers. Among his myriad honors, he is a three-time Academy Award® winner, including for Best Director and Best Picture for SCHINDLER’S LIST, which received a total of seven Oscars®, and for Best Director for SAVING PRIVATE RYAN.
