U.S. Premiere
Screening to be followed by a conversation with director Ellen Kuras, writer Liz Hannah, producer Kate Solomon and Lee Miller’s son, Antony Penrose
Academy Award®-winning actress Kate Winslet stars as Lee Miller, the war correspondent whose bold photos of the London Blitz, the liberation of Paris, and the concentration camps of Buchenwald and Dachau brought to light the struggles and horrors of World War II. Framed by an interview between Lee and young journalist Antony (Josh O’Connor) in 1977, the film recounts the vivacious photographer’s personal and professional life, charting a course from her easygoing, sex-filled years among the French intelligentsia to the day she took a controversial self-portrait inside Hitler’s personal bathtub. Winslet gives a commanding performance as Miller, supported by a terrific cast that includes Andrea Riseborough, Andy Samberg, Alexander Skarsgård and Marion Cotillard. Renowned cinematographer Ellen Kuras, who previously worked with Winslet on ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND, makes her narrative feature directorial debut with this emotional portrait.
