Yara Shahidi is an actress, activist and breakout star of the comedy series BLACK-ISH. Margaret Cheatham Williams produces short-form narrative and documentary video at The New York Times. She is particularly driven to stories that examine the intersection of health, family and personal identity. In 2018 she piloted CONCEPTION, an animated series about evolving state of motherhood, currently in its second season.Since that show’s launch in 2014, Shahidi has been awarded an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress, a Gracie Award for Female in a Breakthrough Role and, most recently, highlighted on TIME Magazine’s annual 30 Most Influential Teens list on behalf of her and social justice and television contributions.
