THE BANKER Galas

THE BANKER

World Premiere

Bernard Garrett (Anthony Mackie) has always been a fast learner who is fascinated by numbers. Joe Morris (Samuel L. Jackson) is a shrewd business owner with money to invest. Both are confident about taking a risk and starting a real estate empire. The problem: it’s the 1950s and being black entrepreneurs does not allow for such opportunities. The solution: recruit a white man to pose as the boss (Nicholas Hoult) and watch the doors open. Director George Nolfi’s THE BANKER is the true story of two men of color, their wives and an ally who prove that, even with limitations, they can go all of the way. Get ready for a surprisingly thrilling drama about real estate, racial injustice and perseverance.

Writer-director George Nolfi has a background in public policy and political science, having graduated summa cum laude from Princeton University and continuing on to study at both Oxford University and the University of California, Los Angeles. He made his feature debut in 2011 with THE ADJUSTMENT BUREAU.
