Three new short films by documentary master Les Blank explore themes of culture, home and family in three different areas of the United States. Julie: Old Time Tales of the Blue Ridge is an enchanting collection of an 80-year-old Applachian mountain woman’s life stories, singing and harmonica playing. Marc and Ann is a portrait of a young Cajun couple, the music that holds their life together and their performances and work in reclaiming their heritage. Puamana celebrates composer Auntie Irmgard Alu Ii and her ohana, the Farden family of Lahaina, Maui, and their native Hawaiian music, stories and dance.
