YOL Tribute to Tom Garvin

T he first film represented in the U.S. by Tom Garvin and one of the great films of our time, Yo/was the masterpiece of Turkish director Yilmaz Guney and Grand Prize winner at the 1982 Cannes Film Festival. Guney was in prison while the film was made but he directed it through a surrogate, Serif Goren. It is the compassionate, extraordinary story of the voyage of five prisoners who are allowed a week’s parole to visit their homes and the geographical and social distJnces they are forced to travel.
