TIGRERO: A FILM THAT WAS NEVER MADE European Cinema

In Mika Kaurismaki’s innovative new film, legendary director Sam Fuller leads a nostalgic and unconventional journey into the past. Forty years ago, Fuller went into Brazil’s Amazonian rainforest to research locations for his adventure film, Tigrero. The project never came to fruition and was all but forgotten until Kaurismaki undertook this documentary. Tigrero portrays Fuller’s return to the Karaja Indian village in the Amazon, accompanied by Kaurismaki and director Jim Jarmusch. In compelling interviews, Fuller tells Jarmusch about his career as a Hollywood enfant terrible and about the film that was never made. The film also recounts the story of the Amazonian Indians and how their lives have changed since Fuller iast ventured into the village. Kaurismaki has created a daring mix of documentary and fiction, past and present.
