A CHILD FROM THE SOUTH Tribute to Americas Film Festival

1993 Academy Award nominee Pete Postlethwaite stars in this compelling feature from Brazilian filmmaker Sergio Rezende. One of the high points of the 1991 AFF, A Child from the South tells the story of Nadia, a young journalist who returns home to her native South Africa to cover a UN conference. A political exile since the assassination of her father years before, she is troubled to find her native country in a state of precarious peace. Submerging herself in the culture of her lost homeland, Nadia embarks on a journey of self-discovery, gaining knowledge of her volatile political heritage and finding romance. When violence erupts, Nadia must make her choice-abandon her country once again or stay to face the uncertainties of the future.-Eddie Cockrell
