One of the high points of the 1991 AFF, A Child from the South tells the story of Nadia, a young journalist who returns home to her native South Africa to cover a UN conference. A political exile since the assassination of her father years before, she is troubled to find her native country in a state of precarious peace. Submerging herself in the culture of her lost homeland, Nadia embarks on a journey of self-discovery, gaining knowledge of her volatile political heritage and finding romance. When violence erupts, Nadia must make her choice-abandon her country once again or stay to face the uncertainties of the future.-Eddie Cockrell
