I’M NOT COOKING TONIGHT U.S. Independents - Fiction

A wryly comical and inventive debut feature that captures the dynamics of love across cultures. Takaya Yamazaki, a Japanese native, based this story on his own relationship with his midwestern-born wife and the stormy waters that they sailed before finally settling into marriage. We find the couple engaged in a romantic “cold war” when a gunwielding intruder enters their home, forcing them to confront their differences and sending their relationship on a different course. Yamazaki explores the brutal yet tender nature of love with a rare combination of humor and honesty.-Shown with No Thanks Not Sure Yes Please (US.A., 1993, 9 min), Andrew Peterson’s satirical look at the search for Mr./Ms. Right in the 90s.
