RAVE REVIEW U.S. Independents - Making it in L.A.

Director Jeff Seymour brings wit and a playful sense of self-parody to his debut feature, Rave Review. While his colleagues make millions in Hollywood, director Steve Maletti is constantly hustling money just to keep his theatre company out of bankruptcy. It ,· looks as if his luck has changed when he obtains the rights to a successful Broadway play. But when his nemesis, film critic Malicious Mandel, reviews the show, Steve decides to ensure his future by scaring Malicious into a good review. An absurd twist of fate later, Steve finds that his plan has worked too well and now he must deal with the consequences of his success and his misdeeds. Like The Player set in an Equity theatre milieu, Rave Review is a bitingly satirical take on the often bitter taste of success.-Wooten Lee
