WHO KILLED PIXOTE? (QUEM MATOU PIXOTE?) Brazil

This film is based on actual facts. It tells the
story of Fe?nando Ramos da Silva, a boy
from the slums who, at the age of 11,
became famous as the star of Hector
Babenco’s film Pixote, an international
public and critical success. His short-lived
success as an actor led Fernando to confuse
his own life with that of the character.
In this case, life imitated art in the most
dramatic manner possible. Fernando
encountered abject poverty at all turns and
saw little chance of becoming famous
once again. So, much against his will, he
found himself embroiled in a life of crime.
In 1987, when he was only 19, he was
cornered by the police in a hovel in a
working-class neighborhood of the richest
city in Brazil. His short, seemingly hopeless
life was brought to a close by eight
shots, fired at point-blank range. –
