SWEET ANGEL MINE European Union Film Showcase

The setting of Radclyffe’s visually stunning
directorial debut-an isolated island in
Nova Scotia-emphasizes the ominous
tone of this psychological thriller. Three
women-Rauchine, her young mother,
Megan, and Grmndma-live a mysterious
and lonely existence in their family home.
Their deep-seated cycle of manipulation
and abuse is suddenly exacerbated by the
arrival of a young man in search of his
long-lost father. He meets and pursues
Rauchine. Rauchine’s mother attempts to
seduce him. Grandma cunningly encourages
her daughter’s violent behavior. All
involved become increasingly consumed
in a web of fear and psychological violence
that catapults rapidly out of control. ..
