THE SANDMAN (DER SANDMANN) European Union Film Showcase

The young TV journalist, Ina Littmann, is
responsible for the background research
for a personality talk show. The show’s
next guest is to be the infamous author,
Henry Kupfer, whose latest work deals
with the story of a serial murderer. Having
himself spent ten years behind bars for
murdering a prostitute, Henry is definitely
considered an expert in this field. The
research of his life begins, as do the inconsistencies
that Ina uncovers. Her suspicion
leads her to believe that Kupfer is still an
active killer. Indeed, in the previous weeks
a series of murders has been committed,
baring his unmistakable trademark. The
perpetrator is still at large. Ina finally discovers
a motive and convinces Sabine
Amman, the host of the live talk show, to
confront Kupfer with the circumstantial evidence
in front of the running cameras. But
Ina has dangerously underestimated the
man who sets out to strike back. –
