THE USUAL CHILDREN European Union Film Showcase

A couple’s romantic evening is shattered
by the squabbling of their two children. In
an attempt at mediation, the father proceeds
to tell a story, only to be sucked into
the fantasy world which he and his children
are now creating together. Scoop
proclaims that his sister, Helo, is dead;
she lives on as a ghost. The father is reborn
as a commander with two goon-like
henchmen, while the mother is written as
a wise mystic with a love of pranks.
Through the work of medieval soldiers
and an elf, and a battle of lasers that
allows Scoop to bring his sister back to
life, all learn a little more about each
other and the need for better communication
between generations.
