WIVES III Norway

If Wives was a youthful debate and
Wives: Ten Years Later quiet rebellion,
Wives Ill is wise and joyful affirmation.
This ode to three spirited friends of over
twenty years opens on a surprise birthday
party for Kaja on board a streetcar in
Oslo. In philosophical celebration of a
new life era, Kaja, an other-worldly
antique shop owner, Mie, a solid headmistress,
and Heidrum, an independent
writer, embark upon a series of visits to
their homes and workplaces and events in
their city. The action is set against the
town’s Independence Day celebrations,
which effectively illuminates the three
women’s unconventionality within traditional
Norwegian society. Older, wiser,
insistent upon maintaining their youthful
values of adventure, independence and a
critical eye, they look back with peace
and forward with confidence.
