BEYOND PARADISE New Directions

A traumatic event forces a young Californian to move to the big
island of Hawaii. There he discovers a strange, violent place that
exists beneath the postcard image of this tropical paradise. At his
new high school, Mark encounters a hostile world which sees him
as an outcast. After proving himself, he earns the respect and
friendship of three Hawaiians, Zulu, Ronnie Boy and Keao.
The new-born friendship is tested by fire as their lives erupt with
the force of an angry volcano. Their passionate tale reflects the
ever present struggle of an indigenous people forced to live with
outside cultures. Mark and his friends reach deep within and
through their friendship, find the courage to break the cycles of
destruction in their lives.
