SEKAL HAS TO DIE (JE TREBA ZABIT SEKALA) Official Competition

It is the summer of 1943. In the village of Lakotice, which war
has not yet touched, prosperous farms sit sprinkled amongst the
ripening wheat. The farmers fear only a cruel and bitter man
named Sekal, who by denouncing his neighbors of crimes
against the Reich, is given their property in reward. This
illegitimate nobody soon becomes the richest farmer around. In
fear of their freedom, property, their wives and daughters eyed
by Sekal, the villagers decide to commit murder. But none of
them find the courage for the deed and so they decide the task
must fall on the stranger, Jura Baran, a farmer who has fled to
Lakotice. Winner Best Actor, Karlovy Vary Film Festival.
