THE CARRIERS ARE WAITING (LES CONVOYEURS ATTENDENT) European Film Showcase

Roger Closset is the photographer for a small town tabloid paper. Between monitoring the police band for leads and tricking people into posing for incriminating photos, he dreams of a life beyond where his motorcycle can take him. Roger sees his chance in the form of a locally· sponsored contest for new world records: the prize is a new car, sure to bring fame and happiness. With no notable talents of his own – save an utter lack of scruples – Roger bullies his fifteen-year-old son Michel into training for the title of “door-opening/ closing” champion of the world. Although Michel’s real passions include old movies and dressing as Elvis, he submits to his father’s demands. Roger’s friend Richard becomes Michel’s official knob-turning coach. Also caught in the fray are Luise, Roger’s beautiful and wise-beyond-her-years daughter; and Felix, their child-like neighbor and breeder of champion homing pigeons.

THE CARRIERS ARE WAITING paints a hilarious portrait of a dysfunctional Don Quixote and the motley group he harangues into helping him in the pursuit of fame, fortune and a four-door sedan.
