THE LEGEND OF 1900 Galas

An extraordinary tale of a virtuoso musician born at sea who never sets foot on dry land. THE LEGEND OF 1900 tells the story of a boy’s unique journey to manhood. Abandoned on an ocean liner and named for the year in which he was born, Nineteen Hundred grows up within the confines of his transatlantic steamer – a charmed existence punctuated by stormy gales and swaying decks. Discovered at a young age for his prodigious talent at the piano, Nineteen Hundred spends his days entertaining the world, one boatload at a time. His talent at the piano attracts, among others, the attention of jazz great Jelly Roll Morton, who challenges Nineteen Hundred to a duel. Oblivious to his mounting notoriety, Nineteen Hundred is content to remain a fixture at sea, resisting his best friend’s encouragement to leave the ship and see the world. But when he meets a beautiful young woman who lives in New York, he finally summons the courage and attempts to disembark.

THE LEGEND OF 1900 marks the first English language film for Academy Awardwinning director Giusepe Tornatore (CINEMA PARADISO) and features a stunning score by legendary composer Ennio Morricone.
