LIFE IS TO WHISTLE (LA VIDA ES SILBAR) Latin Cinema Series

A compelling story of fated encounters and personal revelations, LIFE IS TO WHISTLE is a fusion of absurdist humor and mystical realism. In end-of-millennium Havana, 18-year-old Bebe introduces us to three people whom she “loves very much”: Elpidio, a listless, womanizing musician; Mariana, a passionate young ballerina; and Julia, a devoted caregiver who faints every time she hears the word “sex.” In this world, taxi drivers conspire with the narrator, coincidence reigns supreme and love interests descend from above in hot air balloons. As the story progresses toward exactly 4:44 p.m. on December 4 (the day of the African saint of destiny), Elpidio, Mariana and Julia are brought together by fate in Havana’s Revolution Square.”This visually inventive story contemplates the mysterious forces which cause individual paths to converge or diverge.
