CHARMING BILLY New Directions

We all have disappointments in life. Most of us deal with it and get on with the day-to-day business of living with unrealized expectations. But for “Charming” Billy Starkman, something, somewhere went terribly wrong. A haunting portrait of the quiet, desperate angst that lurks beneath a deceptively smooth surface, CHARMING BILLY tells the story of an ordinary man who climbs a rural water tower to shoot innocent people who are driving by on the quiet country road below. As the number of dead continues to rise, Billy’s childhood memories, his final days and his entire life fly through his mind, weaving a baroque emotional tapestry, as he struggles to understand the mystery that has been his life.

CHARMIING BILLY dramatically graphs the trajectory of one man’s life gone seriously astray. Flashing from the terribly tragic to the frighteningly mundane, the film charts Billy’s deadly disintegration in an attempt to imagine what makes someone commit the unimaginable.
