BAD CITY BLUES Special Presentations

Eugene Grimes, a doctor living in the underbelly of New Orleans, awakens in the night to find Callie, a woman with a bullet wound and a case containing $2 million, on his doorstep. Drawn into a dark labyrinth of betrayal and revenge by Callie, Grimes finds himself forced to confront the nightmare of his own dark past – stretching back to a bloody civil war in El Salvador a decade before – in a psychological death match with Bad City’s cruelest law enforcer: the unstoppable Captain Clarence Seymour Jefferson.

Inspired by some of the great genre films of the past, BAD CITY BLUES is a daring film that takes the outer form of a noir but subverts its conventions: the avenging hero takes no revenge, but instead discovers the insanity of hatred and the power of forgiveness. The result is a challenging and complex combination of plot, characterization and philosophy that goes far beyond the standard thriller.
