Based on an 11-volume Japanese mango comic strip, SPRIGGAN was directed by Hirotsugu Kawasaki and supervised by Katuhiro Otomo (creator of the renowned AKIRA). The result of their collaboration is an impressive achievement of consummate artistry. More than 90 thousand lrames-20% more than the typical anime feature of the same length-were necessary to complete the three-year-long production.
Set in the near future, Arcam is a non-governmental organization, which has the job of looking for and preserving archaeological remains. The agents of this organization are- known as “Spriggan.” During an exploratory mission in Turkey on Mount Ararat, Arcam discovers Noah’s Ark. This legendary vessel proves to have extraordinary powers, and soon the Spriggans find themselves in the center of the last holy war to determine the future of humankind.
