A PARADISE UNDER THE STARS (UN PARAISO BAJO LAS ESTRELLAS) Latin Cinema Series

Winner of the Audience Award at the 1999 Havana Film Festival, this literally colorful story of love and rivalry is a delightful Caribbean comedy of errors.

The action centers around the Tropicana, a glorious Cuban cabaret where Sissy dreams of dancing. The hilarious sequence of events begins when Candido and his best friend Promedio meet a handsome young man named Sergito. Promedio notices a star-shaped mole on Sergito’s hip, which is identical to one on Candida’s body. When Sergito meets and falls madly in love with Candida’s daughter, Sissy, Promedio fears incest. The story twists with further entanglements as the young lovers strive to stay together despite fate and coincidence.

Set to the rhythms of Cuban music and elegant choreography, A PARADISE UNDER THE STARS is an enchanting film full of dance, color and surprises.
