TRIBUTE Documentary Competition

Pop music is a world of subcultures. The strangest of these subcultures might very well be tribute bands. TRIBUTE documents the great lengths to which these cover bands and their dedicated fans go in their attempt to recreate the experience of Kiss, Queen, Journey and others.

From Modesto, California, to Albany, New York, TRIBUTE follows several driven tribute bands as they attempt to live out their rock and roll fantasies. The band members are forced to weather a dizzying array of obstacles to their success: members who suddenly quit, a bandmate who takes his impersonation of Gene Simmons a little too far, and an overzealous Queen fanatic, to name a few.

TRIBUTE gives an insightful, “behind the music” look at tribute bands and the fans who enable these rock and roll dreamers. Like THIS IS SPINAL TAP before it, TRIBUTE shows us the funny, and sometimes unsettling, ingredients that create the rock experience.
