IN THE CITY (EN LA CIUDAD) Latin Cinema Series

From the director of the beautiful coming-of-age film KRAMPACK, Cesc Gay’s new film IN THE CITY is a mature, honest and engaging story of modern life and love in the city.

IN THE CITY is about the hidden desires of a group of 30-somethings in Barcelona and the confusion they experience in the traditional, socially acceptable lives they have chosen. Intimately shot, we are invited into the inner circle of seemingly close friends, but things aren’t always what they seem. Lonely Sofia looks at the happy couple Irene and Mario and sees a strong marriage. So do Sara and Manu. Seemingly unconcerned by what his friends think, divorced Tomas is openly dating Manu’s 16·year-old niece, Ana.

A dynamic and artistic film, IN THE CITY resonates with insight and talent. With fluid direction, the performances Gay extracts are exceptional and complex. He deftly explores the emotional landscape of friendship, love and loneliness.
