A LITTLE BIT OF FREEDOM (KLEINE FREIHEIT) Made in Germany

Memories can cast long shadows that cross international boundaries. Trying to make new lives for themselves in Germany, two young refugees are confronted by ugly reminders of their past.

Teenaged Baran works diligently at a fast-food restaurant in Hamburg while keeping one eye out for the police. Having fled Kurdistan after the disappearance of his parents, Baran is in the country illegally. He strikes up a friendship with Chernor, a gay illegal immigrant from Africa. Their budding relationship is to put to the test when Baran sees Chernor dealing drugs. Things really heat up for Baran when a man with murderous ties to his past arrives in town.

Writer/director Yueksel Yavuz was 16 years old when he emigrated from Turkish Kurdistan to Hamburg. With a distinct personal edge, A LITTLE BIT OF FREEDOM dramatizes the plight of refugees in an unfriendly world.
