ANGST (DER ALTE AFFE ANGST) Made in Germany

Falling in love is the easy part. Staying in love is the bigger challenge for two people in this tense drama from writer/director Oskar Roehler (NO PLACE TO GO).

Playwright Robert Hennicke) and physician Marie (Marie Baeumer) have come to a crossroads in their 10-year relationship. Robert is not able to keep up his end of their intimate affairs-a problem that’s developed before in his long-term commitments. Marie. appears to be the· more stable and nurturing one, but her patience is running out. A pregnancy, a fatal illness and ever present clouds of angst threaten to push both Robert and Marie over the edge.

Baeumer’s gut-wrenching performance won the 2003 Bavarian Film Award for Best Actress, and Andre Hennicke is fully her equal in conveying the pain of imperfect people-struggling to come to terms with the meaning of true love.
