ZIM AND CO. European Film Showcase

French director Pierre Jolivet has crafted a film that on the surface is a light comedy but contains within it wonderful social observations. Already a smash hit at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, AFI is proud to present the North American premiere of the latest film from this acclaimed filmmaker.

Following a minor scooter accident, Zim must find a real job to avoid prison. Zim’s not the lazy kind, so he anxiously checks the classifieds. But the only job he finds requires him to report 10 days later, with a car and a driver’s license. Unfortunately, he has neither. But Zim is street smart and so are his buddies, and nothing is going to stop his plans to stay away from the joint!

The world created by these characters is wonderfully unique. It’s a truly multicultural cross section of society depicted in the voices of Zim and his group of friends. A hilarious and poignant story about the struggles of the lower class and the raw ingenuity of youth, ZIM AND CO. is smart storytelling with a sophisticated voice.
