SOPHIE SCHOLL: DIE LETZTEN TAGE Made in Germany

The true story of Germany’s most famous anti-Nazi heroine, SOPHIE SCHOLL-THE FINAL DAYS has already received numerous awards worldwide, including three Lolas (the German equivalent of the Academy Award®), two Silver Bears for Best Director and Best Actress at the 2005 Berlin International Film Festival, and has been named Germany’s official Oscar® submission.

Julia Jentsch stars as Sophie Scholl, a young German woman who fiercely opposed the Nazi government as port of an underground student resistance movement. The film focuses on her lost six days, a mesmerizing passage from her arrest to her interrogation, trial and sentence.

Jentsch is a revelation in this film. Sophie is brought to thrilling life by her performance, at once heartbreakingly fragile, yet simmering with strength and determination in an almost hypnotic tour de force. Director More Rothemund’s restrained directorial style achieves a deeply moving portrait of an unforgettable character.
