THE WEDDING PARTY (DIE BLUTHOCHZEIT) Made in Germany

Based on the graphic novel, Lune de Guerre, that achieved cult status in Belgium and France, THE WEDDING PARTY is an action-fueled black comedy about a wedding reception that is derailed by shotguns and hand grenades before anyone makes it to the second course.

Like most couples, Mark and Sophie end their vows with “till death do us part.” Then, their families join them for a private banquet at a beautiful country inn. A few bites into the shrimp appetizer, Hermann, Mark’s domineering father, provokes the chef into an argument from which neither of them will back down. As usual, Hermann is on his worst behavior and there is nothing anyone can do to stop the manic and bloody battle that ensues.

Dominique Deruddere deftly escalates the tension, layering family secrets, hidden desires and difficult personalities with unpredictable plot twists and irrepressible black comedy.
