SARAH SILVERMAN: JESUS IS MAGIC Special Screenings

God help you if you try telling any of these jokes to your friends. Just don’t do it. Because you are not Sarah Silverman, and you will come off sounding like a racist or a homophobe or just a generally bad person. But seeing this one-woman show for yourself is a marvelous treat. It’s a trip to the candy store of forbidden humor.

Expanded from Silverman’s successful stage show, this film version includes her live performances, along with musical numbers and sketches created specifically for this film. Along with Sarah, the film features Bob Odenkirk, Brion Posehn and Laura Silverman. But the sketches and the musical numbers are really peripheral to this film. Like the classic comedy concert films of the past, it is a showcase for a comedian at the top of her game.

If you think of yourself as the most open-minded liberal person you know, you hove to see this film. There are still taboos in this world, and Silverman talks about almost every one of them from this stage. She is a button pusher, and she knows you still have plenty.
