WHAT’S EATING GILBERT GRAPE Tributes

Based on the novel by Peter Hedges and directed by Lasse Hallström (CHOCOLAT, MY LIFE AS A DOG), this is the clever, moody tale of a young Gilbert Grape (Johnny Depp) who lives at home in a small town with his 500-pound Momma (beautifully played by Darlene Cates), his mentally retarded younger brother Arnie and his sisters. These stories and their humanity are exactly what make this movie so much more than anything you may expect.
