A CHRISTMAS TALE Desplechin Retrospective Special Screenings

During a bittersweet holiday season, three generations of the Vuillard family gather at their home for what may be the last time. The matriarch, Junon (Catherine Deneuve), has a rare genetic condition. Her adult children, Henri (Mathieu Amalric), Elizabeth (Anne Consigny) and Ivan (Melvil Poupaud), and their wives and girlfriends are all at each other’s throats, replaying long-simmering resentments. Desplechin mixes and matches dark comedy, psychological anguish and philosophical speculation, creating a world both entertaining and unpredictable. He renders the characters so vividly that they seem as familiar as people in our own lives.
