KRISHA American Independents

First-time filmmaker Trey Edward Shults has crafted an incredibly personal and intense family Thanksgiving experience. Estranged relative Krisha arrives to make amends and get to know her family again, but as the day unfolds, she can’t seem to escape her dark past and family history. Tension begins with the very first frame and continues to build throughout the day as we glide through the household, catching glimpses of family interactions and private moments that trigger emotional memories. Beautiful cinematography and editing brings the viewer inside Krisha’s world and her state of mind as she becomes increasingly unstable. Shults shot this story almost entirely within his own house, working with multi-generational cast members from his own family. KRISHA won the Grand Jury Prize at SXSW 2015. –April Wright
