Carlos Javier is a Guggenheim Award-winning director, cinematographer and photographer who focuses on American cities, violence and marginalized communities. Javier’s current project is a series of short films chronicling the contemporary stories of black Americans who fled the American South during the Great Migration. His photos were used to illustrate Ta-Nehisi Coates’ 2014 article “The Case for Reparations” in The Atlantic.
