BLOWIN’ UP is an intimate portrait of the Queens Human Trafficking Intervention Court, a groundbreaking model of progressive justice, and the rebel heroines working to change the way women charged with prostitution are prosecuted in America. Director Stephanie Wang-Breal follows sex workers — many undocumented — as they share the complicated stories of prostitution and the collaborative efforts of the judges, attorneys and social workers to connect them with resources for starting a new life. Stephanie Wang-Breal is an award-winning filmmaker and commercial director. Her first film, WO AI NI MOMMY (I LOVE YOU, MOMMY), was the recipient of three Grand Jury prizes, including at AFI DOCS. Wang-Breal’s second film, TOUGH LOVE, premiered at the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival in April 2014. She resides in Brooklyn, New York, with her son and daughter.
