SAINT MAUD Midnight

SAINT MAUD

Talent attending: Rose Glass (Director), Oliver Kassman (Producer)

Fresh from its Midnight Madness premiere at TIFF, director Rose Glass delivers a thrilling and rich psychological horror story of religious devotion that will make you shiver long after leaving the theater.

Maud leaves a hazy traumatic past behind, beginning a new job as a hospice nurse for cancer-stricken Amanda in a dreary English seaside town. A once-feted dancer and socialite, Amanda finds her final, dependent days boring and frustrating. Maud interprets Amanda’s depression as a religious cry for help. Their relationship transforms from admiration to resentment as Maud becomes dangerously obsessed with saving Amanda’s soul.

With SAINT MAUD, Glass crafts a complex and layered world in her feature debut, making her a powerful, distinct new voice in genre and arthouse cinema. –Sarah Harris
