Horvath, followed by conversation moderated by filmmaker Amy Ziering with co- director, cinematographer, and producer Maisie Crow; co-director and producer Abbie Perrault; subjects Amanda Zurawski , Samantha Casiano; Dr. Austin Dennard, and Senior Staff Attorney at the Center for Reproductive Rights, Molly Duane.

The immediate repercussions of the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade included a proliferation of fear and confusion in the medical community surrounding legal risk and uncertainty around what legally constitutes an abortion. Amid the flood of expected horror stories were unforeseen victims of the policy: families who desperately wanted children. ZURAWSKI V. TEXAS is an account of the courageous Amanda Zurawski who, with the support of Molly Duane and her team at the Center for Reproductive Rights, took her case to the Texas Supreme Court against staunch opponent Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. Zurawski’s public account of being denied a medically necessary abortion, nearly losing her life and potentially the ability to have children, becomes a rallying cry, connecting her with other women whose lives have been deeply affected by the unwillingness of the government to recognize abortion as health care. Maisie Crow and Abbie Perrault’s emotionally impactful and inspirational documentary is a timely reminder that these kinds of historic legal battles are long and hard fought. –Malin Kan
