On a packed train platform, Sonja struggles to comfort a wailing baby. But the baby isn’t hers: Sonja has agreed to watch a stranger’s child, and now, the mother is gone.

Born in Stockholm, Agnes Skonare has spent a great part of her adult life living outside her home country, Sweden. She graduated with honors from Columbia University in New York. Her experiences abroad can be seen in her work, which often features characters struggling to adapt to places and cultures.
