In the wilderness of the Siberian Arctic, an Indigenous Sakha paleontologist descends into the depths of the melting permafrost and traverses the mythical realm of the Underworld in search of an ancient creature.

Bios

Born in the Russian Arctic, Evgenia Arbugaeva remains connected to her homeland by covering stories on climate change and Indigenous communities. She is a National Geographic Explorer and a recipient of the ICP Infinity Award. Her previous short film HAULOUT (2022), co-directed with her brother Maxim Arbugaev, was Oscar®-nominated.
