Mona is a 10-year-old Tongan-Australian girl who begins to realize she’s different from her single, white mum and family. Both mother and daughter navigate identity and belonging in Melbourne suburbia during the ‘90s.

Bios

Annelise Hickey is a writer and director based in Naarm (Melbourne), Australia. She has built a career spanning music videos, commercials and film, and focuses on themes of belonging. Being of Tongan and Irish heritage, Hickey has always been drawn to stories about identity and community.
